Team Global Express is pleased to announce the next phase of its partnership with Aotearoa’s national food rescue and largest food support charity, New Zealand Food Network (NZFN), as a Logistics Service Provider.

Leveraging its fully integrated, multi-modal network, Team Global Express will support NZFN in delivering food to its 64 Food Hubs nationwide and to the communities that need it most.

NZFN Chief Executive Gavin Findlay says the organisation is grateful to Team Global Express for joining its network of partners, enabling NZFN to better reach food-insecure communities across the country.

"Managing bulk surplus food is a massive operation, and the food needs to get out to our Food Hubs across the country quickly and efficiently so it can be distributed to local communities,” he says.

"Partnerships like this help us to ease the burden of food insecurity and get good, nutritious food to the people who need it most. With its network of branches across Aotearoa, Team Global Express truly understands the communities we serve, and that makes all the difference."

The partnership comes at a critical time for the food support sector. Recent findings from NZFN’s inaugural Hunger Monitor revealed that one in three (33%) New Zealand households have experienced some form of food insecurity in the last year.

Piyush Pahade, Chief Commercial Officer at Team Global Express, says the organisation has a range of strategic logistics partnerships and chose to work with NZFN because of a shared passion of ensuring nutritious food reaches Kiwis doing it tough.

"At Team Global Express, we believe in doing business in a way that’s good for our people, good for our customers and good for the local communities we serve,” he says.

"We're proud to put our network to work for such an important cause, and we look forward to our teams getting hands-on to support the incredible work NZFN does every day."

Through the partnership, Team Global Express and NZFN are focused on reducing food waste, improving the efficiency of New Zealand’s transport network, and supporting more sustainable outcomes by maximising fleet capacity and ensuring trucks run full.

Since its establishment, NZFN has prevented over 73 million kilograms of CO2-equivalent emissions from entering the atmosphere.

The collaboration also goes beyond freight. TGE is supporting NZFN by facilitating introductions to customers with potential surplus stock, helping to further reduce food waste. TGE team members will also volunteer behind the scenes, rolling up their sleeves to help sort and distribute food parcels to Kiwis in need.
